Concerning Outposts

Proposal for the creation of Outposts for information-gathering beyond the Square Dr. Vanessa Avery Writing August 12, 2005

It becomes necessary at times to travel away from our rigid structure and explore outside of our zone of control. Thus, it behooves us to monitor areas outside of Command Square 9. It is true that much of the wilderness is given over to xenobiological specimens that are particularly
vicious, but there may also be large areas of safety which are just beyond our sight.

The creation of self-sufficient, hardened outposts beyond the Square should begin immediately. They will be staffed with scientific and military specialists. We should model much of their design on medieval castles, though a large portion of the structure should be placed underground, for defense.

The outposts will be expected to operate independently for years at a time. Residents should be directed to have children, grow and catch food, filter water and expand their settlement. At the same time they should send out small scouting/mapping teams to commence the exploration of what has become, indeed, a new world.

I would like to be considered for placement in the first Outpost, assuming my proposal is met with approval.

Thank you for your time.

-Vanessa Avery, D.P.H.
